Taormina Restaurant is located in a small, unassuming building at 84 Ball Pond Road, just 5 minutes past Danbury High School. Since opening in 2001, this much-loved Italian restaurant has developed a well-earned reputation for “great service, great food, great ambience” (a direct quote from one of Taormina’s very satisfied restaurant patrons) that keep people coming back again and again.

Owner Gina Clarizio loves what she does -- and it shows. Taormina’s homemade sauces are the most flavorful you’re likely to ever taste, in part due to the fresh herbs that Gina plucks straight from her garden during the warmer months. Try Taormina’s pesto and marinara sauces, and you will know the true meaning of “ambrosia”!

Taormina Restaurant boasts an expansive menu that includes decadent seafood, veal, chicken, eggplant and pasta entrees, such as Calamari Fradiavolo; Zuppa di Pesce; Veal Marsala; and Chicken Francaise.

Taormina’s pizzas are all hand tossed and made with the aforementioned amazingly flavorful sauce. Traditional pizza toppings include meatballs, broccoli, clams, pineapple and grilled chicken or shrimp.

Gourmet pizzas include combinations such as Paisana (Pan Pizza with fresh garlic, plum tomato, olive oil, grated cheese – anchovies optional); Buffalo; Pesto; and Clams & Garlic Bianca (white pizza and herbs).

Taormina Restaurant now serves Gluten-Free Pizza and Pasta!

Taormina is one of those places where the fresh bread that is brought, warm, to your table, is a treat in itself, having been baked in the pizza oven that day!

Desserts are also made daily, and Gina actually makes many of them fresh at home each day and brings them in to the restaurant. Cannolis, and pies such as chocolate mousse and lemon meringue pie, are among the homemade desserts you’ll find here.

Superior food at reasonable prices. Best italian food Iv'e ever had. New favorite resturant. :)

Pros: You have to try the creamy french onion soup. Everything is fresh made and you can immediately tell the difference.

Cons: There was nothing I did not like. The staff is great and Gina the owner is a peach.
